Develop employability skills

0021358Proficiency in skills such as team-working, communication, numeracy and IT is the expected baseline for any graduate.  The assessment methods used on your course are designed to develop and extend these skills.  Further, working to deadlines will improve your time management, prioritising and planning skills. Gain relevant experience

Practical experience of a work environment, especially one that relates to your intended chosen career, is an excellent way of showing employers that you will be able to quickly and effectively fit into their company. We offer a variety of schemes:

Build a portfolio of evidence

It is crucial that you can articulate and showcase your talents to potential employers.  We can show you ways of building your portfolio of evidence, for example through the use of Pebble Pad, an online planning and recording tool. You can also sign up for the Professional Development Award.The Professional Development Award offers an integrated and structured approach to your personal, academic and professional development. Through a process of reflective action planning, you identify and acquire skills, experiences and qualifications that best equip you for your graduate future.

Research career choices and prepare for employment

Challenge yourself and get involved (that something extra)

The CBI identifies the most important graduate attributes as "a positive attitude, [a] willingness to take part and openness to new activities and ideas".
