Impact Stories

Since 2011, CAEL has engaged in a wide range of projects and interventions with partners in various African countries. Here are testimonials and stories of impacts from various institutions and individuals who have benefitted from CAEL's knowledge transfer projects in the continent. For example, a woman whose family was badly affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in North East Nigeria tells the story of how CAEL's entrepreneurship training has helped her to develop her business, rebuild her life and train hundreds of other women in the region. At the College of Education Niger State Nigeria, CAEL's intensive knowledge transfer workshop has fundamentally changed curriculum practice and helped unleash a new spirit of entrepreneurship creativity among both staff and students.

Niger State Nigeria: unleashing potentials through entrepreneurship education

In this video clip, the delegates from Niger State College of Education, Minna, Nigeria, describe their experience of the intensive knowledge transfer workshop on entrepreneurship education, facilitated by the Centre for African Entrepreneurship and Leadership (CAEL), University of Wolverhampton. Here, the provost of the College, Professor Farouk Haruna, and other unit heads describe how the training has had far-reaching impact on their curriculum practice, and how the training has changed the mindset of both staff and students in the college.

Entrepreneurship training at the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency

In this video clip, one of CAEL's trainees - now an established trainer herself - tells the story of how she benefited from the entrepreneurship training provided by CAEL. She describes how she has used the training to develop and expand her business venture, leading to international recognition and awards. More importantly, she tells the story of how she has gone on to train more than 1000 others, majority of them vulnerable women, young people and others who have been internally displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency. These Internally Displaced Peoples (IDPs) are now able to make a living and support others, thanks to the entrepreneurship training they received in Maiduguri, Nigeria.
