About the course

This course is a joint venture between the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and the University of Wolverhampton designed to support the training of biomedical scientists (BMSs) wishing to extend their current role in histological tissue dissection.

Who is the course designed for?

It is suitable as an introductory course both for BMSs wishing to develop their practice as well as for those taking the Royal College of Pathologists/ Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Diploma - Expert Practice in Histological Dissection. 

Course Delivery

The course will be delivered by Consultant Histopathologists Dr. N Salmons, Dr. A Pugh, Dr. U Karnik, Dr. K Robson whom between them have a wealth of experience with a range of different specimen types. Senior Biomedical Scientists will provide lectures on areas such as Health and Safety, Governance and Portfolio’s.

Duration and Venue

Delivery and training, will be provided over five days in state of the art facilities. The course includes lectures and allows hands-on dissection practice, to ensure delegates develop the required knowledge and skills for their role. Additionally, Lecture Capture provides delegates with reusable resources of dissection demonstrations to support their continued learning. Next course is scheduled to run:

Site specific organ dissection including:  Gynae, Breast, GI Tract, Endocrine System Head and Neck

Including Practical sessions.
