How to get to Telford (Ironbridge)

Telford (Ironbridge) is easily accessible by train from the Birmingham International airport, offering international travellers a direct 50-minute train journey from the airport terminal itself. Alternatively a train journey from London is around 2.5 hours. Telford and Ironbridge are well sign-posted when travelling by car. Ample free car parking is available at the Conference hotel. From the train station The Telford Centre Hotel is just a 12-minute walk or can be accessed more easily by taxi.  Some taxis can be found at the rank outside the main train station building, however it is advised to pre-book at least 30 minutes in advance.

About the Venues

The main Conference venue is The Telford Centre Hotel however there will also be a range of historically interesting, atmospheric and flexible workshop spaces for off-site activity. Additional spaces and woodland areas include nearby Jackfield, Coalport and Ironbridge. These unique spaces are particularly ideal for artists and wellbeing practitioners. A number of restaurants and cafes can be found in the Ironbridge Gorge and surrounding area, all within walking distance or short drive.

Transportation

Some Conference transport will be provided at specified times to off-site locations. In addition, local taxis and busses serve the area.

B&Bs: The Ironbridge Gorge and surrounds offers a range of privately run B&Bs and pubs full or charm and character all within 15 minutes drive of the Conference venue. Check accommodation booking websites.

University Halls of residence: Telford Campus of the University of Wolverhampton offers budget-styled student accommodation with en-suite bathrooms.  Please note that the campus is less than a 10-minute drive to the Conference venue at Telford.

Youth hostels: There is a YHA youth hostel at Coalport serving the area within approximately a 15-minute drive to the Conference venue.

Campsites: For those wanting an outdoors experience, there are several campsites a short drive away.  Check accommodation booking websites.

Apart from this being the site of international historical interest, Ironbridge offers Conference delegates the opportunity to take time out to enjoy the tranquillity and stunning natural beauty. Ironbridge is the home of extraordinary artistic production, which includes ceramics, exquisite Victorian tiles, elaborate ironwork, painting and sculpture.

A featured pre-arranged half-day Conference activity (included for delegates and an add-on for partners) will take you to the Black Country Living Museum, where delegates will have the opportunity to step back in time and experience life as it was at this award-winning attraction. The Black Country Living Museum is one of the finest and largest open-air museums in the United Kingdom.

Delegates may wish to consider extending their stay in Telford or Ironbridge for several days to explore the region.
