The University of Wolverhampton is offering two Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the academic year 2021/22:

• MSc Advanced Technology Management (Sustainability)
• Masters in Public Health (MPH)

If you are interested in applying for a CSC scholarship to study the MSc Advanced Technology Management (Sustainability) or the Masters of Public Health at the University of Wolverhampton, then the following details will help you understand what you need to do to apply for the scholarship.

   • Indicate that you are applying for a CSC scholarship
   • Outline your academic ability to perform at Masters level
   • Outline the potential impact of studying public health on the development of your home country.

To date, over 27,800 people have taken up Commonwealth Scholarships since the first group of 175 Scholars arrived in the UK in 1960. During those six decades the scheme has constantly developed, adapting to the very different world of a 53-nation Commonwealth of 2019.

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and UK universities.  Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are for candidates from least developed and lower middle income Commonwealth countries.  Available for full-time Master’s study on selected courses with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships are for PhD candidates from low and middle income Commonwealth countries, to spend up to 12 months at a UK university as part of their doctoral studies in their home country.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

These scholarships are offered under six themes:

1.Science and technology for development

2.Strengthening health systems and capacity

3.Promoting global prosperity

4.Strengthening global peace, security and governance

5.Strengthening resilience and response to crises

6.Access, inclusion and opportunity

Split site scholarships are for:

• 12 months study at a UK university as part of an applicant’s doctoral studies in their home country, 
• Applicants who are registered for a PhD at a university in an eligible Commonwealth country
• Study at a UK university with which your home university has an established institutional or departmental link
• Study at a UK university which has a part funding agreement with the CSC.

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are for candidates from least developed countries and fragile states in the Commonwealth, for full-time doctoral study at a UK university.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Commonwealth PhD Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. These scholarships are offered under six themes:

1.Science and technology for development

2.Strengthening health systems and capacity

3.Promoting global prosperity

4.Strengthening global peace, security and governance

5.Strengthening resilience and response to crises

6.Access, inclusion and opportunity

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

• Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
• Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
• Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year
• Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2.1) honours standard, or a second class degree (2.2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree). 
• NOT be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, in your home country or elsewhere
• Have support of a potential supervisor from at least one UK university listed in your application form
• Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
• Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format

The University of Wolverhampton is proud to host Commonwealth Scholars from around the world to study for a postgraduate degree in the United Kingdom.  The University has been awarded two Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for 2020/21.

The successfull awards/applicants are as follows;

The postgraduate MSc in Advanced Technical Management (Sustainability) received one award which was successfully awarded to:

Muhammad Nazir from Pakistan

When asked 'What does it mean to you, being granted the scholarship to attend the University of Wolverhampton?' Muhammad replied:

"This is a unique opportunity given by the CSC to avail the expertise from the faculty of the great university of opportunity named, University of Wolverhampton located in the region of "Wulfrunians". The concepts, which will be gained from this master's level of study, will be utilised in making several upgradation in terms of sustainability: the highest demand for this technologically changing world. Therefore, after completing my degree program, I will prove myself the greatest asset not only for my homeland but also for the whole world."

The postgraduate MSc in Health and Social Care received one award which was successfully awarded to:
