Healthcare Science Interviews

Once you have applied for one of our Healthcare Sciences courses* and have been shortlisted, you will be invited for an interview. 

What should you expect?  

• You’ll be sent a link to your interview on Microsoft Teams via email in advance. In this email, there should be a 'Join meeting' link. Just before your interview time, press 'Join meeting'. 
• The interview will last around 30 minutes and will be with a member of academic teaching staff from the healthcare sciences team. 
• At the start of the interview, you must show a form of picture ID as proof of who the interviewer is talking to.  
• Our intentions during the interview are to try to draw the best from you. We will be using this as an opportunity to discover a little more about you and your understanding of the role of a Healthcare Scientist. This will help determine whether we feel that you are not only suitable for the course but also have, or demonstrate that you have the potential to develop, the qualities necessary to work in a clinical role dealing with patients and their carers. During the interview we will also be assessing your communication skills. 
• There are no tests involved in the selection process.

Please Note: 

Passing of interview does not guarantee a place on the course. All applicants will be offered a place on the non-accredited Medical Physiology and Diagnostics award which will also be conditional on meeting academic entry requirements. After interview, all applicants who successfully obtain a place on the Healthcare Science course will be notified later in the cycle and your offer will be changed to demonstrate this. 

*Healthcare Sciences courses include BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (Cardiac Physiology), BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (Physiological Sciences), BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (Respiratory and Sleep Physiology) 

Top Tips 

• Have you downloaded Microsoft Teams ready onto your device? Search for the download link via a search engine, App Store, Play Store etc. Once downloaded, no need to create an account or log in. 
• Do you know enough about the course you have applied for? Research information about the course, visit our open days, come and speak to our staff and students www.wlv.ac.uk/opendays 
• Practice talking about your skills and qualities, giving examples in evidence.  
• Ensure you have read all the guidance that has been sent to you, have you been requested to bring any additional information with you? (ID etc.)
