Equality & Diversity Unit

The Equality and Diversity Unit is responsible for providing strategic leadership to University’s Equality and Diversity Work. As part of the University Secretary's Directorate within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, we work closely with colleagues to embed equality and diversity within the wider work of the University. As explained by the Equality and Diversity Unit's Remit, we do this by creating, checking and championing best practice within Equality and Diversity:

Develop clear policies and procedures to define best practice.

 Monitor implementation of initiatives and highlight non-engagement.

Raise the profile of Equality and Diversity within the University.

 

Inform and advise staff and students about Equality and Diversity.

 

Evaluate institutional progress against the Equality Objectives.

Build relationships with the local community and national organisations.

Support the Staff Networks and Faculty E&D Representatives.

 

Challenge institutional underperformance.
