Students have access to outstanding Fashion and Textiles workshops including: a designated pattern cutting area and industry steam press, dye facilities and hand screen print facility. Other specialist equipment includes: a facility to tuft full scale rugs a full set of millinery equipment and computerised embroidery machinery.

CAD labs are equipped with specialist software including Wilcom for carpet design and Lectra for fashion and textile design, as well as staple design software packages such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

In Addition
We have three more large Fashion and Textiles studios, a large heat transfer facility and access to a specialist in-house digital printing service – the Print Support Hub.
The Stitch Room
Used by both Fashion and Textiles for fabric manipulation sessions and small project work, the Stitch Room houses a selection of portable sewing machines including; Berninas, Janome overlockers and Pfaff needle punch machines for use in the workshop and studios, plus a small number of industrial sewing machines and an industrial steam iron.
Tufting Shed
The Tufting Shed houses equipment for rug tufting including tufting guns, loop pile gun, carvers and shearers and a large selection of yarns.
There are a range of frame sizes from sample size to full size rug frames.
Dye Lab
Used by both Fashion and Textile students the dye lab has facilities for hot and cold water dyeing using a range of specialist dyes for natural and synthetic fabrics.
Heat Transfer Facility
Contains a large Monti Antonio double bed heat press. This is used for techniques such as transfer of digitally printed disperse papers, hand painted disperse papers, resists and heat setting
Print Support Hub
The Print Support Hub is a technically supported, open access area. It offers all School of Art students a range of specialist printers that are capable of printing onto a vast array of different materials.
Including:
- A3 Risograph printer
- 2 medium format high-end Epson printers (A4, A3, A3+ and A2)
- Large format thermal lithographic printer
- Large Format Mimaki textile printer
- Large Format Mimaki textile printer
The room also offers two large format scanners that will scan artwork up to A0 size.
