Extension Mobility on IP Telephones
The Extension Mobility feature allows you to temporarily configure another IP Phone as your own by logging in to that phone. Once you've logged in, the phone adopts your own profile information, including telephone number, dial permissions, call forwards etc. It is useful for staff who regularly work in different locations, or for temporarily making and receiving your phone calls in a meeting room. All the phones in the small bookable meeting spaces in MX Building have been enabled with extension mobility.
Extension mobility has to be enabled both for the other phone to be used and for the user. If you'd like to use this facility, please place a Service Desk call by ringing ext. 2000 at least 48 hours in advance of needing to use it. Once it has been set up, you'll be given a PIN number to use to log in to the other phone.

IP Telephones - Hunt Groups and Pick-Up Groups
Hunt Groups and Pick-Up Groups are useful facilities for handling calls that can be answered by more than one person. This page explains the differences between them.
Pick-Up Group
A Pick-up group is a facility that enables calls to an extension to be delivered to another extension in the same Pick-Up group, via the PickUp softkey*. An extension can only be part of one Pick-Up group but there is no limit on the number of extensions that can be part of a single Pick-Up group. No calls can be placed to a Pick-Up Group. Typically all the extensions of users in a team will be part of the same Pick-Up group.
Hunt Group
Hunt Groups require a Hunt Pilot extension which is usually published,e.g. as a team contact number. Calls to the Hunt Pilot can then be transferred automatically to several phones within the Hunt Group. A Hunt Pilot number is often part of a Pick-Up Group along with the extensions in the Hunt Group. There are several algorithms that can be used to transfer calls received by the Hunt Pilot number to the members of the Hunt Group.
Extensions that are in a Hunt Group will often require a HLog softkey*, which enables users to log into and out of the Hunt Group dependent upon their availability. Extensions can be part of several Hunt Groups and there is no limit to the number of extensions that can be part of the same Hunt Group. Hunt Groups are not usually required unless several extensions need to answer calls to a published number .
If you'd like more information about either of these facilities, please contact the IT Service Desk on ext. 2000 (01902-322000).
* the softkeys are located just below the screen of IP phones and the functionality is displayed at the bottom of the screen. The functionality available via the softkeys changes dependent upon the state of the handset (on or off hook).
