Defibrillators on campus
The University has a number of automated external defibrillators (AED's) located throughout the campus. These defibrillators are life-saving emergency medical devices that can be used when a person is experiencing cardiac arrest.
We have a total of 20 defibrillators across our campuses and sites. All have voice instructions that talk you through the process of using the device.
What to do in an emergency
In the first instance, if it is a medical emergency, call 999 to request an ambulance. Then call the University security team on extension 5555 (from an internal phone) or 01902 322106 (from a mobile) to summon a first aider.
The first aider will assess the casualty and, if needed, call for a defibrillator and ambulance.
Please be aware that you do not need to be trained to use a defibrillator – in an emergency, anyone can use the devices. The defibrillators are designed to be easy to use by anyone without training and are located in areas where they are easily accessible.
