Space Utilisation
Space Utilisation is a measure of when and how space is being used. The Utilisation rate is calculated by multiplying the frequency rate by the occupancy rate.
- The frequency rate measures how often the room is being used compared to its availability.
- The occupancy rate measures how full the space is compared to its capacity.
In recent years, the University of Wolverhampton has been in the lower quartile for the sector for space utilisation but a series of robust teaching space audits, followed by positive action to improve the accuracy of the timetable and remove the worst teaching space from the estate, has improved utilisation dramatically.
