Request: 

Question 1.    

• The number of applications made for university-owned accommodation for the academic year 2021 / 2022
• The same data but for each of the five previous years.

• The number of applications for university-owned accommodation that were successful in the academic year 2021 /2022.
• The same data but for each of the five previous years.

(Note: If students who apply to halls through the university can apply for and be put in privately-run / partner halls then please provide these stats as part of you answer for part 1 and 2 with a breakdown of allocations, if held.) 

Response:

In accordance with Section 1(1)(a) of the FOIA, I can confirm that the University does hold the requested information in part, as some of the requested information pertaining to the scope does not exist.

I have decided to disclose the requested information, which exists, in full.

The University only holds records dating back to 2018/19 academic year. This means that information pertaining to Question 1b and Question 2b cannot be disclosed in full as some of the requested information does not exist and therefore, full records for the past five years cannot be disclosed.

This decision has been made after all reasonable steps have been taken to locate the above-referenced requested information. Whilst I acknowledge that it is the principle object of the FOIA to provide public access to documents, I am satisfied that the above-referenced requested information does not exist.
