Coaching & Development

WLV Sport offers students, staff and local community members valuable sports based coaching opportunities to enhance their experience and personal development. As part of the Sports Activator Programme we offer our students the opportunity to coach within WLV sport which could lead into employment and other future career options.

We offer various coaching courses thoughout the year which have previously included;

  • Football L1 and L 2 , Futsal L1, Futsal L2, Coaching Disabled Footballers
  • Level 2 Multisport 
  • Basketball L1 and L2
  • Instructing Weightlifting L2 and L3
  • BACPR Adapting Exercise

In Addition we offer students a variety of online CPD courses which are easily accesible and can support your development anywhere anytime! The following are justa few examples of what we offer;

  • Child Protection in Sport & Active Leisure
  • Mental Wellbeing in Sport & Physical Activity 
  • Health & Safety
  • GDPR
  • Equality & Diversity in Sport
  • Preventing Bullying in Sport

Did you know you can gain a recognised award during your studies and grow your coaching and leadership experience by coaching your fellow students.

WLV Sport enables students to play competitive sport whilst studying at University of Wolverhampton. We enter teams across a range of sports including our focus sports; Basketball, Netball, Judo, Futsal and Football, in the national BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) competition programme. We also offer the opportunity to enter individual BUCS competitions and championships throughout the year for individual sports. 

Have you conisdered coaching for one of our focus sports? Team WLV are aiming to to have a 100% workforce by 2023 whether it be via coaching, strength and conditioing or officiating. The Sports Workforce Hub will provide training and support via online tools and mentors to any student interested in developing their leadership skills through sport with real opportunities on campus!
