We have paid and voluntary positions available to work on the social sport programme. It is important to note that you also do not have to be a sports student to become involved.

Becoming an activator is a great way to:

  • Increase your employability skills and help make your CV stand out from others
  • Help to shape University Sport as a whole
  • Gain new skills and qualifications
  • Meet new people and keep active
  • Make a difference to the University Of Wolverhampton
  • Earn rewards for the hours you dedicate

At the end of every year, we also host our annual Sports Awards evening. As an activator and someone who has contributed so much of their time, you are invited to the awards evening. There are also awards for 'Activator of the Year' & 'Volunteer of the Year'. This type of achievement looks great on your CV and demonstrates that your peers have recognised and appreciated your efforts throughout the year.

Anybody! Whilst students and staff can take advantage of our fantastic discount rates, members of the community can also rock up and play at any of the sessions. Turn up in a group with friends or by yourself and we will ensure that you leave with budding friendships in place.

Unless otherwise stated, all participants must be aged 16 or over.

If you wish to turn up on a casual basis and pay as you play, it is just £2 per session. However, staff and students can purchase a social sport membership for just £15. This one off fee allows the purchaser unlimited access to social sport sessions throughout the academic year! The price is usually £30 for the year but to relaunch the programme for 2021-2022.

If you wish to sign up for a membership, you can do so here.

The short answer is no. Whilst we advise that you turn up in the correct sportswear (including footwear), in some of the sessions, this is not essential. We will also provide a limited amount of sports equipment for each session including rackets, bibs and balls. Due to current government restrictions regarding COVID-19, we are advising participants to bring their own equipment and not share equipment wherever possible Where, equipment needs to be shared or moves between individuals, we have stirct processes in place to sanitise the equipment at regular intervals.
