Careers Support in Telford

Are you searching for a new job? Perhaps you are exploring your career options whilst studying or being furloughed? Or are you looking to study? Job Searching can be a time-consuming and stressful process, but there is still a range of careers support available for you in Telford during COVID-19.

According to ONS statistics, job vacancies in the UK decreased by 42% in the quarter between March to May. Jobs websites such as TotalJobs have seen an increase of people searching for jobs; an increase of 30% in June compared to the previous month.

Nevertheless, Indeed has found that certain industries such as beauty and wellness have seen an upward trend of job vacancies following the easing of the lockdown measures in the past few weeks. University clearing is ongoing through August. There are plenty of opportunities still available!

Telford Job Box

Telford JobBox is a free service from Telford & Wrekin Council to provide advice and support for residents of all ages looking for employment and training. The advisors can provide assistance to advance your career. They can support with digital skills, internet access, preparation for an interview, updating your CV. 

If you have Learning Difficulties or Disabilities, specialist support is available from EEAST (Education, Employment Advisory Support Team).

One of the new JobBox services, Job Match, works directly with businesses to connect them with people looking for work. They also work to signpost support for companies and staff dealing with redundancy due to COVID-19.

National Careers Service

The National Careers Service is the publicly funded careers service for adults and young people aged over 13 in England. The Job Box team can help direct you to their service. The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance on learning, training, career choice, career development, job search, and the labour market.

Future Focus

FutureFocus is a “free, careers guidance support service for young people living in Telford aged between 16 – 19 or up to 25 years with additional needs.” They can help you explore different career options, future planning, provide training and refer you to other organisations for further specialist support.  They can also help you when things get in the way of your learning or future plans, and can look at support services with you that might also be able to help.

Courses & Learning

LearnTelford

Learn Telford is part of the Telford Job Box initiative to provide learning opportunities to improve the skills and employment levels of the local community. It provides support for anyone aged 19+ looking to take advantage of the benefits of learning from increased civic participation to improved wellbeing; in particular it enables those adults who are low-skilled, unemployed or otherwise distant from learning and employment, to progress. It also supports retired individuals, people already in employment and people struggling to find a new job.

University of Wolverhampton

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses are delivered across four campuses. The Telford Innovation Campus received over £10m to fund advanced new engineering facilities and courses.
