Knitting group
We have set up a Knitting Group at the Centre which is on the 3rd Floor of the Southwater Building. It is for those who enjoy knitting or crocheting and for those who are keen to learn. The group started by responding to an appeal from the Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust for colourful woollen blankets for patients with dementia to help them find their way back to bed more easily during a stay in hospital. The group have also knitted hats for premature babies, sunflowers for the Cradle appeal and poppies for Remembrance Day. Since the start of the pandemic, the group have responded to urgent appeals by the Princess Royal Hospital for PPE equipment. Members of the group have sewn scrub trousers and tops for nursing staff and ear bands for face masks. They have also raised money for local charities by selling knitted items and they provide knitted items for charity appeals such as Operation Sabre. The group's aims are learning crafts, forging friendships and supporting well-being. Everybody is welcome.
