CIM Certificate Professional/Digital Marketing

The Professional Certificate in Marketing gives you the practical skills and knowledge to devise and execute marketing activities and gain marketing credibility. It also aims to provide a practical insight into the principles and application of marketing at a tactical level.

The syllabus reflects the changing issues and practices within marketing, and employers' views of marketing in today's business environment. The qualification is ideal for junior marketers, those working in marketing support roles (such as personal assistants), or if marketing plays some part in your current job description. the course can also benefit individuals in more senior roles particularly from small and medium sized enterprises where marketing is only part of the role.

This  programme is run throughout the academic year and students can join at three different points to start selected modules.

CIM Diploma Professional/Digital Marketing 

This course is ideal for marketers who are concerned with managing the marketing process at an operational level, as well as those looking to build on their knowledge with a future marketing management role in mind. You can achieve an internationally recognised and acclaimed professional qualification, and become an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. You gain the marketing skills you need at an operational level to maximise opportunities for your company. The course focuses on the practical application of the latest marketing theories and strategies in areas such as marketing planning, market research and marketing management. Successful completion offers the principal entry route to the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing including Chartered Status.

The University of Wolverhampton Business School is an accredited tuition and examination centre, and all CIM examinations can be sat at our Wolverhampton City campus.

This  programme is run throughout the academic year and students can join at three allocated different points to start selected modules.

Applied Marketing

Module: 7MK023          Type: Core

Applied Marketing is a 17-credit mandatory module which sits within the suite of Level 4 modules, part of the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing. In this module, students will learn about the role of marketing in the organisation and the key concepts that underpin the activities of the marketer. Students will explore the marketing environment, customer behaviour in the digital age, market research and the marketing planning process. This will include the marketing mix and a tactical planning framework to aid marketing effectiveness. Assessment is set and marked by the CIM: Multiple-Choice Question Examination (controlled assessment) 50% pass grade.

Applied Marketing

Module: 7MK023          Type: Core

Applied Marketing is a 17-credit mandatory module which sits within the suite of Level 4 modules, part of the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing. In this module, students will learn about the role of marketing in the organisation and the key concepts that underpin the activities of the marketer. Module: 7MK024          Type: Core

Students will learn the campaign planning process including how to analyse an organisation’s current position. Customer Insights

Module: 7MK025          Type: Core

Customer Insights is a 17-credit elective module which sits within the suite of Level 4 modules part of the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing. Customer loyalty, the customer/user experience and customer insight are the core of achieving optimum satisfaction and retention. This module gives students an understanding of the contemporary customer’s complex needs and wants, their behaviour as consumers and how this sets their expectations. Students will learn how to gain the insight required to understand those needs and map the journey to ultimately improve their experience. Assessment is set and marked by the CIM, an organisation based assignment, 50% pass grade.

Digital Marketing Techniques

Module: 7MK029          Type: Core

Digital Marketing Techniques is an elective module, offered as part of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's (CIM) Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. The CIM design and develop the module, as well as set the assessments and mark the assignments. The module focuses on the evolving digital landscape, allowing students to develop the skills required to improve digital marketing performance.

Module: 7MK027          Type: Core

Innovation in Marketing is a 17-credit mandatory module which sits within the suite of Level 6 modules, part of the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing. This module enables students to take a visionary approach and embed innovation to help their organisation deal with the challenges of a fast-moving marketplace. Students will be able to understand the relationship between marketing and innovation and recognise the key factors in building and nurturing innovation within the marketing function. Students will also be able to use internal and external marketing in supporting a specific innovation. Assessment is set and marked by the CIM with a 50% pass grade.

Digital Optimisation

Module: 7MK026          Type: Core

This is a mandatory module, part of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's (CIM) diploma in professional digital marketing. The module is designed and developed by the CIM, as well as the assessment. Marking is completed by the CIM.

The Digital Customer Experience

Module: 7MK028          Type: Core

The Digital Customer Experience is a 17-credit elective module which sits within the suite of Level 6 modules, part of the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing. Customer behaviour has dramatically changed with the digital revolution. This module provides students with insights into the digital customer experience and highlights ways to adapt to this changing market, allowing students to fulfil customers’ strategic needs. It will provide the knowledge and skills to select appropriate channels to market to meet objectives. It will also help to ensure students provide the desired customer experience, by understanding the customer's journey while complying with relevant legislation and regulation. Assessment is set and marked by the CIM with a 50% pass grade.

1 Evaluate the role of the marketing planning process and implementation in a range of marketing contexts.

2. Develop and manage a brand and product portfolio in the context of the organisation's marketing strategies and objectives.

3. Recommend how a marketing function should be structured to deliver competitive advantage, marketing and organisational success.

4. Identify the organisation's information needs, scope of research projects and resource capability to underpin the development of a business case to support marketing projects.

You can get 20% discount on a taught postgraduate course if you’re a University of Wolverhampton Graduate.

The University offers a generous 20% Loyalty Discount to students progressing from an undergraduate programme to a taught postgraduate programme, where both courses are University of Wolverhampton Awards.

There is no time limit on how long ago you completed your degree as long as this is your first Masters level qualification.

Self-funded:

If you are paying for the fees yourself then the fees can be paid in 3 instalments: November, January and April. More information can be found by clicking here.

Sponsored - Your employer, embassy or organisation can pay for your Tuition fees:

Your employer, embassy or organisation agrees to pay all or part of your tuition fees; the University will refer to them as your sponsor and will invoice them for the appropriate amount.

We must receive notification of sponsorship in writing as soon as possible, and before enrolment, confirming that the sponsor will pay your tuition fees.

Financial Hardship:

Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs.

Charitable Funding:

Most charities and trust funds offer limited bursaries targeted to specific groups of students so you will need to research whether any of them are relevant to your situation.

CIM Certificate Professional Marketing/ Digital Marketing

This qualification is the equivalent to the first year of a foundation degree. This means you will need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Hold any general Bachelors or Masters degree
  • Hold a CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing
  • Applications from those with equivalent experience or qualifications will also be considered

If you have studied a Marketing, Advertising, PR or equivalent based  undergraduate or Postgraduate degree it may be that you can gain a module exemption for one of more of the modules at this level and therefore only have to complete the remaining module(s) to gain the qualification.  For further information on this you should contact the Chartered Institute of Marketing directly to discuss this.  

CIM Diploma Professional Marketing

The CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing

or

Any business or marketing Batchelors or Masters degree (or equivalent) where one third of the credits comes from marketing

or

Experience in marketing management sufficient to evidence the learning outcomes of the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing.

If English is not your first language, you will need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above, or evidence of English proficiency equivalent to the above.

CIM Certificate Professional Marketing

This qualifcation is aimed at those who are working in supporting marketing roles, usually within the marketing function, but also targets individuals in more senior roles, particularly in SMEs, where marketing is only a part of what they do.

The qualification provides a practical insight into the principles and application of marketing at a tactical level and aims to advance marketing knowledge and accelerate career progression.

CIM Diploma Professional Marketing

This course is ideal for Marketers with operational , supervisory or managerial responsibilities with a view to moving up to a managerial role. This course also allows you to progress to the CIM Chatered Marketer status.
