Course studied: Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management

Graduated: 2019

My Level 3 CIPD qualification acquired at Telford College enabled me to make a major career change and obtain my first role in HR. I was still keen to continue my development and I therefore chose to study the Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management at University Centre Telford. The University of Wolverhampton is renowned for the quality of its CIPD affiliated courses and being able to study at University Centre Telford not only meant that I was able to study closer to home but the smaller cohort also allowed for more personal lectures and intimate group discussion. Being able to access the 24-hour library at the Priorslee Campus was an added benefit.

Whilst studying for the Diploma I successfully achieved a promotion at work and this was undoubtedly aided by my enrolment on the course. Returning to education as a mature student can be challenging; setting time aside to study can be difficult whilst trying to achieve a work-life balance. Although the course is intense and does require a considerable amount of independent study, the lecturers are very reassuring.

I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to study in an environment where the staff are not only enthusiastic and passionate about their teaching but are also immensely inspiring and supportive; from my experience it is clear that the entire ethos of the University and University Centre Telford is centred round helping students to achieve their potential.

I would urge anyone who is contemplating higher education to consider the University of Wolverhampton. I not only enjoyed studying there but also made some great friends along the way, so much so that I will be returning next year to complete my Masters qualification.
