Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - Stand-Alone Modules

 

The Univeristy of Wolverhampton, we offer a variety of CPD courses, at both level 6 and level 7.

Level 6 Modules:

The module is designed to help anyone working with adults in health, social work and social care to develop a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983), the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and their decision-making practices where capacity and/or mental disorder are significant considerations.

The course aims to equip candidates to demonstrate to the relevant statutory Supervisory Bodies that they have the relevant skills, knowledge and values to act as Best Interest Assessors under the Mental Capacity Act (2005) as amended by the Mental Health Act (2007) and to carry out any other assessments related to a potential deprivation of liberty that they are eligible to conduct.

Level 7 Modules:

This course will enable qualified social workers to effectively support the learning and assessment (short of final summative assessment of professional capability) of student social workers in the practice setting. Successful completion of this module confirms ability at Stage 1 of the Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work.

Please note that 'Developing Critical Approaches to Decision Making' is currently not running.

This course will enable registered professionals to effectively support the professional development of learners, including enabling learning, teaching, supporting and assessing pre-qualifying students and qualified workers undertaking continuing professional development courses. Successful completion of this module confirms ability at Stage 2 of the Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work.
