Title of Piece: The Craft

Statement:

This project aims to tackle loneliness and isolation within the community, by offering a space for social interaction, networking, and activity engagement, to help create a sense of belonging for all the community. The flexible garden has been designed to offer a wonderful space for classes and events these can include conference meetings, live performances, demonstrations from local businesses and trade skill classes which encourages skill learning and skill sharing in a space that is easy to access and well known. The Victory Hotel in Gloucester is an old public house which was once considered the heart of its community, this building could cater to this project perfectly.

Instead of simply turning this building into a community centre to host these events the concept a Nod Back into Time, has led this public house being reclaimed into a brewery. This fits perfectly with the history of this building and due to the renewed interest in craft beer this space will appeal to several generations. Although nodding back to 1875 the brewery contains modern elements and technologies, firstly starting with the clever automatic glass sliding roof added onto the exciting garden boundary.
