Judith Jeffery, 2020 BA (Hons) Applied Arts graduate, Wolverhampton School of Art, University of Wolverhampton

Statement:

My work started with working at a care home with dementia sufferers.

I was affected by the way the people seemed to drain away as the disease progressed.

I decided to produce faces in glass as a series, showing how the colour disappeared from the lives and was replaced by a black void

I was at the point of casting the pieces when we were locked out. I hope that I will be able to make the pieces when life returns to normal.

My Experience:

I have not found the course easy! It has challenged me to push my ideas away from the obvious. I enjoyed visits to Manchester and a conference in London with Max Stewart.

Covid has affected me profoundly, as my old people have died, some with the virus.

I hope to go back to caring as I find the work very rewarding.

I am sure I will continue to produce my own work.
