The artist investigates the physicality of making and viewing, as well as the process of its own creation through explorations of movement, mark-making, and viewer participation. The work immerses the viewer in a way that makes them more than passive observers; they are part of the creative process and just as important to it as the artist. The viewer is invited into an experience that makes them aware of themselves, their body, their movements and their own viewing.

The artist was born in the West-Midlands and has a strong connection to dance, performance and drawing; with both traditional and non-traditional materials; such as charcoal and string. Often these are used in connection with each other, using dance and movement to influence mark-making and drawing as a method of documenting these past movements. Dance is used as a method of creating lines with the body which form the basis of the drawings. The use of shadows enables the marks to emerge from the surface of the wall and also gives the viewer control to view and explore the work how they see fit. The movement of drawing is something that interests the artist together with how it is seen and read by the viewer. Drawing which emerges and disappears within itself and drawing which creates a performative experience.

Degree Show 2021, Wolverhampton School of Art, George Wallis Building, University of Wolverhampton

Our staff and students have been hugely inventive in finding opportunities and outlets to keep learning live  - and this, in itself, is a testament to our creativity and resilience as a sector.
