William Mistouflet

"William Mistouflet is a contemporary artist who specialises in printmaking. Starting as mixed media artist, William found his passion for printmaking when he started his course in 2017. Since then he has been pushing himself to experiment with different compositions and sizes, and learning various printing techniques and processes. Will's mixed media background can be seen throughout his work, sometimes in the composition used for the prints and for the finishing process. The work he produces are often linked to social & political issues to shed light on a topic and raise awareness, but sometimes he would also explore different emotions & feelings that he feels during the process of making the work itself. Working with various media, he hopes that it will help him become better as an artist, as he wants to explore media to learn new skills that would be beneficial in the long run to adapt as an artist."

My name is William Mistouflet, and I'm an artist who specialises in printmaking, mixed media and photography. The work I mainly produce consists of prints. I work mostly with dry point etching/intaglio and sometimes screen-printing. I've been doing dry point etching since 2017. Since then, I've gone from working on 20x20 to A3. I keep pushing myself to experiment with different compositions and sizes. Working with intaglio, I can use mark-making as an advantage by the harshness or delicacy of a line to represent texture or tones. Since I've started doing art, I have worked with various medium and dry point/printmaking has been the one that I enjoy working with the most and has allowed me to produce some of my best pieces of work as an artist. The themes I work with are often social & political issues, sometimes I would also explore different emotions & feelings that people might express in their daily life. Each piece of work I make is to shed light on a topic and raise awareness, also some prints have their own story to tell, so the audience might relate to one of the stories I have.
