"Born to West midlands in 1987, creatively inspired and passionate about Photography, I achieved HND status. I would describe myself as a creative artist, not defined by medium or material, I use the body of work to direct me to the most suitable resources and express those opinions and construct an accessible view for all to experience the creative direction explored through a BA (Hons) in Fine art. Finding a love for written research, personal development, and education, I continue my creative path through personal studio practices, staying true to my passion for the land and natural environment."
I present a body of work that is fragmented with memory, using the process of emotional attachment to create a sensory journey, through blending the emotional response and written language to site. Working within the boundaries of nature to develop a positive interaction and reaffirm participation within the landscape, my work uses sculpture, paint, photography and clay to blend small interventions into the natural world. This highlights political issues with toxic human interactions and the subsequent permanent damage to the natural world. “I used a red yarn to wrap the tree that stood alone, unsheltered and disproportioned, taking the time to care, to nurture, adding intrinsic value to the tree and the way we see the function of the tree. Wrapping the tree is as much about the process as the intrinsic value and concept, making small interventions changes the value of the tree completely, considering site to be a valuable contribution to the ethics of the work, without these natural surroundings this tree wouldn’t have the opportunity to thrive within the limitless surroundings of nature, site is key to the emotional connection of the work, using the entirety of site offers sensory experience first-hand with the natural elements within the body of work”. I use photography as a means to document the journey through nature. This provides accessible material to encourage others to positively interact within the landscape. I blend written texts to enhance the sensory experience, adding context by describing the emotions of the scene. Exploring emotional connections to both enhance and create safe spaces to platform blended material for impactful displays. I create emotional scope for personal reflection and highlight political issues surrounding negative human interaction in natural spaces.
