Shriya Rai

"I am a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer and video editor. I am also the First RAI in my family to go to University. I enjoy most aspects of graphic design, from motion to branding to editorial."

While very diverse, my aesthetic approach often involves a distinct sense of play, aiming to put the fun in functional. I value quality design, quality project management and quality materials. It doesn't need to be luxury, but well thought-out. I enjoy wonder and originality, while still feeling grounded and sensible. I want to be a part of a team that will do the job right, do the job justice and in doing so everyone involved feels a sense of accomplishment and pride. I want to work on projects and with clients who allow me to be a creative and work through the creative process properly...lots of time on site for understanding, time back in the studio/workshop building scratch models, exploring with materials and testing out ideas. In effect, I want to be a part of something bigger than myself - something that will make an important difference to the lives of my clients, the lives of everyone I work with and the lives of those who see my work. I take inspiration from everything around me, from words to colours, different cultures and languages, light and shadows, textures and movements. I am drawn towards these experiences and seek to apply them wherever I can whether it’s through design, Illustrations, photography or even editing. I find these qualities are what creates a compelling atmosphere, and atmosphere to me is everything. My career goal as a graphic designer is by starting off small, building a network and working my way up. I want to get as much experience & knowledge as I can get before making any big movements, starting with a few work experiences and internships, then a small creative studio to eventually getting a directorship position in a company or developing a successful freelance business. My end goal is to eventually become an Art or Creative director. My plans for the future are to continue to learn new skills and techniques to make myself a more professional and well-rounded Graphic Designer.
