Lina Osman

"My inspiration for this project is based around the current global pandemic and how people must come to adapt their whole lifestyle according to the effect. Following the news on the global pandemic has made me realise that now more than ever people are more careful on what they spend their money on. Longevity has become key as well as timeless efficiency. My focus is on colour and trend forecasting looking at what futurists are saying about how the current climate has a huge influence on the future."

Colour psychology is a huge part of my project as well as my dissertation as emotions play a huge part in how the world moves and how costumers base their decisions. I will be looking at which colours bring out different emotions and how certain colours may represent and translate what editors and forecasters are recommending for a sanctuary-like spacem such as colours that will bring calmness, restfulness, and peace to the mind. A trend I am following is the Homebody Hub which is a new trend that is quickly accelerating due to the pandemic. The Homebody Hub is a more realistic and less aspirational take on home life. It is about accepting the Dutch concept of Niksen which is about doing nothing and appreciating the joy in everyday moments –a movement which has been propelled.

My source of inspiration for this project are sculpturers and how the use minimalist techniques to create bold outcomes to display a centre piece to the home. Artists such as Edith Beurskens who she works in the neutral earth tones and uses textures as a source for her detail and minimal mark making. She levels parts of her design creates a shadowing therefore avoiding any harsh linear marks making the pieces more fluid, simple and minimal while still making a bold statement.
