"I’m Jose Gaspar, I'm Portuguese, I'm 53 years old, married and have been living in the UK since 2008. I worked professionally as a painter before I went to university to study interior design in 2017 for 4 years (including a foundation year). I’m a final year student studying Interior Design at the University Of Wolverhampton. I have been studying hard despite the current pandemic and have not let it stop me achieving my goals to become an interior designer. I promise myself and my family that I will provide a better life for them that they deserve as they did not give up on me. My wife has always been my rock from the beginning to end."

I enjoyed developing my final year major project concerning a restoration of the Grade 2 listed Cleveland Pool Building located in Bath, Hampton Row. Cleveland Pool was built in 1815 to the designs of architect John Pinch and is the oldest surviving public open-air swimming pool in the country. It was recently closed in 2018 and the aim of my project was to restore the building and create spaces that the public can enjoy. The spaces include, refreshment bar area, yoga room and gallery, as well as restoring the external areas to create an outdoor swimming pool, children's playground and garden. During the early stages I was inspired by Biophilic designs. I liked how they infused nature into the internal space by using materials and features such as wood, plants and green walls. As I was redesigning the spaces I was mindful of the building’s grade 2 listing. This meant that unless written consent was given then neither the internal layout or external appearance could be changed. Overall, I believe that the project was a success as I was able to achieve a design that catered to all the spaces as well as reflecting the Biophilic design without conflicting with the buildings grade 2 listing.
