"Hannah James was born in the West Midlands in 2000. Growing up her life was filled with animated movies about magical lands and brave protagonists, all of which she was fascinated by, and have influenced her art throughout her life. What started as a hobby evolved into career as she began to study art professionally, first studying Graphic Design at College then moving onto Illustration at Wolverhampton University. Here she learnt new techniques and how to properly apply her abilities in design, storytelling, advertising and more. Her love for make-believe worlds is still evident, as wise wizards, daring dragons and magical monsters are common themes in her work."
I could hold a pencil before I could talk, so my passion for art was obvious from an early age. I’ll draw anything, but I have a particular passion for animals and anything magical: adorable dogs, dangerous dragons and curiously creative creatures are some of my favourite things to create. I spent two years at Halesowen College studying Graphic Design, where I achieved a D*D*D* grade. Currently I'm in my third year at University where I achieved 1st Class grades in my first two years. Using the abilities I gained during my studies I bring to life characters and stories that would otherwise exist only in my head. I love to show people the world inside my head, whether it be a comic, an illustrated kid’s book or a simple piece of work. My passion is to actually work in concept art and illustrated story telling. These skills are mostly digital, but I do dabble in other media such as water colour and coloured pencils. Aside from drawing I have a passion for dogs. I have my own chubby pugs that always become jealous when I work on art, quite often they will try to ‘sabotage’ my work by licking it or sitting on it, but that doesn’t stop me, and my love for art is still going strong.
