Georgia Elizabeth Adamson

"Originally from Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, Georgia Adamson is 22 years old. She considers herself as a maker and textile artist and has always been creative since an early age. During her time at The Whitby High School Sixth Form, she received The Rose Beasley Award for her achievements and endeavours in both Fine Art and Art and Design. After finding a passion for sewing through her textile lessons in high school, Georgia has accumulated 5 sewing machines for her collection. Including a hand turning Singer machine and a 100-year-old semi-industrial Alfa machine."

I have recently completed my BA Honours degree in Illustration from the University of Wolverhampton. Basing myself between Cheshire and the West Midlands for current and future work. I consider myself a maker after exploring a realm of diverse practice during my final years of university. My passion for textiles has allowed me to develop my art style. Using my skills in sewing and textiles, I create large-scale pieces while experimenting with video, drawing and model-making. The main inspirations for my work include nature and repurposing, with artists such as Vanessa Barragao and Cas Holmes being my admired artists. Currently, I am working alongside Arts Connect and British Art Show 9 through their Partner Schools Programme. Working with artist Sophie Huckfield, I am helping to deliver workshops in schools across the West Midlands creating collaborative work which will feature in the British Art Show 9 Wolverhampton (2022). Future ambitions for my practice are to exhibit in galleries across the country and deliver workshops to groups about my process. Using the experience I have gained from the British Art Show placement to be able to successfully run workshops independently.
