Charlie Jolly

"I was born in the East Midlands, and I spent hours of my summer holidays making stop-motion animated films with Playmobil figures, then recording my own voiceover with my dad for fun. While my passion for art grew, a separate interest in the natural world developed, with days spent exploring local wildlife reserves, watching birds and trying to figure out how they flew. Eventually the two passions combined, and since then I’ve essentially drawn a set of wings somewhere almost every day."

Charlie has been fascinated by fantastical creatures since she started designing her own dragon books at the age of 10.

Having (successfully) tried many areas of animation whilst on the course, Charlie has looped right back around and rediscovered her passion for designing beautiful creatures and worlds. The added bonus of Charlies journey is that she can now animate these wonderful creatures, and can clearly see where her passion fits into industry.

"The freedom to do what I wanted has allowed me to explore more daunting fields of art like landscape design and concept art, allowing me to settle into my niche with more certainty. After graduation I aim on taking a masters in character design, giving me more time to develop my specialization and design skills".
