"Hi, I’m Aimee. My heart lies in paper engineering, print and materiality, but ultimately, I’m just happy to be working doing what I love."
My design journey started as a child, spending time doing arts and crafts, but as I progressed through college and then into university, I realised I was more intrigued and inspired by Graphic Design. I have a love for physical design and have developed a passion for print, materiality and paper engineering, although I am capable of producing motion graphics and branding work. I relish projects and briefs with physical outputs that audiences can interact with. I am influenced by David A Carter and his pop-up books that are incredibly intricate, demonstrating great paper engineering and skill. I’m also influenced by the work of Paula Scher, Marion Bataille, and others who create meaningful work that makes a difference, as well as being successful women in design. At this point, I can’t see myself doing anything other than being a Graphic Designer, it’s part of who I am. I’m about to undertake a Masters degree in Graphic Communication to further my understanding of the industry and really focus my skills. I look forward to continuing working with paper and print, possibly packaging and editorial work. However, I’m open to any role that challenges me and gives me the opportunity to learn and grow. This course has enabled me to progress immensely both as a person and designer; the lecturers are dedicated to student success. There have been many opportunities to work on live briefs to gain industry experience, and to explore a breadth of design disciplines and software.
