A standard process is in place for the reporting of all suspected and confirmed coronavirus cases for students and staff at the University of Wolverhampton. Anyone who receives a positive test result or is experiencing coronavirus symptoms should follow the reporting procedure outlined on this webpage to inform the Health and Safety team.
It is no longer a legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test. However, it is important for anyone who tests positive to follow Government advice by staying at home and avoiding contact with other people for at least five full days.

Step 1
If you are experiencing coronavirus symptoms or have received a positive test result, you need to email: covid-19help@wlv.ac.uk stating; your name, student number (department if you are a member of staff) and a contact telephone number.
You should not come onto campus if you experience coronavirus symptoms, and have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to go to work or do your normal activities. If you are on campus when your symptoms start, you must leave campus immediately, avoid touching anything and return to your home or residence.

Step 2
Once you have sent your email, you will receive an auto-response that contains a link to complete the online reporting form. You should complete the reporting form straightaway.
Students should also contact their personal tutor to let them know that they cannot return to campus; this enables the University to ensure that there is support in place to complete learning activities at home if appropriate.
Staff should inform their line manager.

Step 3
Once you have submitted the online reporting form, the University will work with the local Health Protection Team (HPT) and may contact you to advise on any next steps. This will help us to protect other students and staff.

What to do if...
Guidance on action to be taken if you suspect that you, a household member or other close contact have Covid-19 symptoms or a positive test result. It is important that you read all the scenarios to ensure that you find the one most specific to you.

- If you have not taken a test, five full days have passed since the symptoms started, and you feel well.
If your test result is negative, but you still have symptoms, you may have another virus such as cold or flu. You should stay at home until you feel well. Seek medical attention if you are concerned about your symptoms.

The member of your household should stay home if they are experiencing coronavirus symptoms.
As long as you feel well, you can continue to attend campus as planned.

If you live with or have stayed overnight in the household of someone who has Covid-19, you are advised to limit contact with people outside your household. People and children who usually attend an education or childcare setting and who live with someone who has Covid-19 can continue to attend the setting as normal.
Follow this advice for 10 days after the day the person you live or stayed with symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms).

Shielding advice was paused on 1 April 2021.
As restrictions have been eased, the Government are advising clinically extremely vulnerable people, as a minimum, to follow the same guidelines as everyone else. Action required:
Students: Contact ASK@WLV via the e:Vision to confirm that you are in this group so we can support you, and engage with learning online as much as possible.
Staff should seek advice from their line manager and Human Resources, via the HR Portal. They should also consider the Health and Wellbeing Risk Assessment.
If a student or person you line manage reports that they have received a positive result, you should advise that they need to follow our Covis-19 reporting procedure and email: Covid-19help@wlv.ac.uk to inform our Health and Safety team as soon as possible.
Where possible with students, please ask the person to confirm what sessions they attended 48 hours before their symptoms start or their positive result. Academic colleagues may be asked to generate a class attendance list and any staff members in the same location.
