Pre-sessional English and Academic Skills

Our Pre-sessional courses are designed for international students whose first language is not English and will help you meet the English language requirements for most undergraduate and some postgraduate courses at the University of Wolverhampton.

  • fully online course;
  • face-to-face lessons (Zoom);
  • self-study materials for your individual needs;
  • intensive language development;
  • practice in academic writing, presentation skills, and dealing with academic texts in English (both spoken and written);
  • an introduction to the University and its academic culture;
  • experienced teachers.

 

  • A laptop/PC:
    • running Windows 8/10 or MacOS 10.12 or higher;
    • with at least 2GB of memory;
    • latest version of Google Chrome;
    • access to install software on the laptop;
    • 1024x768 or 1280x720 minimum resolution;
    • 200 MB of free disk space;
    • a broadband internet connection with a minimum of 2Mbps upload and download speeds;
    • webcam, headphones and a microphone.

  • The length of your Pre-sessional course that you need, depends on your current level of English and the entry level that you require to start your course.
  • Due to the Coronavirus situation, all our Pre-sessional courses have been moved online so you can still study your Pre-sessional course with us and move on to your main degree course with the required level of English and academic skills.  You can complete our online Pre-sessional course from your own home - you do not need to be on campus in order to study but you will need access to a PC or laptop and a good quality internet connection in order to fully participate.  Please also be aware that classes with your lecturer will take place at times between 9am and 3pm GMT so please take this into consideration.
