Out of Hours Support

You can contact the University's Security Team which is available 24/7.

From an internal University phone: 5555

Out of hours are:

  • Monday to Friday, between 5pm and 9am
  • Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Days when the University is closed - Bank Holidays, Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter Monday plus any additional concessionary days - all of which can be found on the Academic Calendar.

Medical Emergencies:

  • If you or someone else is seriously ill or injured, and/or their life is at risk, call 999
  • If you are worried about yourself or someone else, call 111
  • Hospital – This webpage will help find your nearest hospital A&E department.

Mental health crisis support:

  • If you or someone else is in immediate danger call 999
  • If the crisis is not life-threatening, call 111

Other mental health support:

  • Samaritans – You can telephone Samaritans on 0845 909090 or 116 123 or send an email (jo@samaritans.org).   If you need a response immediately, it's best to call on the phone. This number is free to call, and you don’t have to be suicidal to call.  Find out here whether you live near a Samaritans branch which you can visit to talk, face-to-face.
  • The CAM Crisis Messenger text service provides free, 24/7 crisis support across the UK.  If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need support you can text CAM to 85258.  Website: https://www.camgrant.org.uk/cam-crisis-messenger/ 
  • Local crisis support service– You can also find local crisis support services on this site.  If a health professional has already given you a Crisis Line number, call it.  Please note, local crisis support services will have different operating hours which may not include out of hours.  Please refer to the individual service for more details.
