Change in Coffee Prices

Notification of coffee and coffee related products price increase effective 24th Janaury 2022

Over the last number of years the university catering department have always endeavoured to maintain our price levels and therefore we have absorbed incremental costs without changing our prices.

Throughout 2021 we have seen the cost of raw materials rise dramatically, other ancillary costs such as energy, transport and packaging have also seen record increases. As widely reported in the media the increase in coffee costs has been driven by a frost in Brazil, whilst COVID has had an ongoing impact on supply chain by driving exorbitant increases in the price of shipping containers.

Whilst we use our purchasing strengths to keep pricing stable and absorb any costs internally when possible, these are unprecedented cost increases which we must look to reflect in our pricing policy.

We realise this is not welcome news to you, however this is driven by market pressures and macro-economic factors outside our control. We at the university catering department greatly appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to deliver a top class service to you.
