Creating Contemporary Britain

This FREE 4 day course will discuss how the modern UK we know today came about? Starting in 1804 with the formation of the United Kingdom in 1804 and continuing up to the new millennium. 

This short course will introduce the concepts and ideas that lead to the evolution of contemporary Britain. 

Topics will include “The Industrial Revolution & Poverty”, “Housing & Health”, “Unions and Politics” and “War & The Empire”.

Sean Derrick is a Student Transition Teacher at the University of Wolverhampton. Sean has a BA(Hons) in War Studies and PGCE in Post Compulsory Education from the University of Wolverhampton, and an MSc in Terrorism and Political Violence from Kingston University. For the last two years he has been teaching on the University’s foundation year program mainly with students going on to study History, War Studies and English.
