Prof Ian Campbell

Interim Vice-Chancellor, University of Wolverhampton

Prof Ian Campbell became Interim Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton in January 2021.

He was previously Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at Liverpool John Moores University, where his responsibilities included leading the institution, the delivery of strategic and operational plans, performance, its internal structure and organisation and its interface with external bodies and agencies. He has extensive knowledge of teaching and learning, student experience and has proven success in executive leadership.

Prior to this, he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Hertfordshire, where he was responsible for the development of the university strategy and all academic-related areas.

At Brunel University, he was responsible for developing the student experience and external relations. Ian’s primary research area, over the last 30 years, has focused on the physiology of individuals with a spinal cord injury during exercise.

Prior to Brunel, Ian had several years of commercial experience working for Lane4 Management Group Limited, accountable for driving and delivering new sales growth as Head of New Business Development.
